Dr Praneeth Vepakomma 

Dr Praneeth Vepakomma is a Visiting Assistant Professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in IDSS, and an Assistant Professor at MBZUAI. His research centers on trustworthy, responsible, and collaborative machine learning, aiming to harness intelligence from networks of organizations and people in data-driven economies while achieving scale and maintaining ethics. His work includes efficient LLM fine-tuning, collaborative LLM fine-tuning, collaborative machine learning, decentralized learning, federated learning and its variants, differential privacy, and data/model markets.

Visiting Assistant Professor at MIT Institute for Data, Systems, and Society (IDSS) and Assistant Professor at Mohamed bin Zayed University for Artificial Intelligence

He completed his PhD at MIT, focused primarily on integrable and collaborative machine learning. Before academia, Dr Vepakomma spent nine years in industry, working at Amazon, Motorola Solutions, several startups, and as an intern at Apple, Meta, and Corning. After completing an MS in Mathematical & Applied Statistics at Rutgers University, he lived and worked across the US before moving to Boston. He is a recipient of the Meta (formerly Facebook) 2022 PhD Research Fellowship.
